Adhesive

Printing adhesives: jelly glue, hot melt adhesive, and lamination adhesive.

Jelly Glue: Jelly glue, also known as animal glue or hide glue, is a traditional adhesive made from natural sources, often derived from animal collagen. It is characterized by its gelatinous consistency and is commonly used in woodworking, bookbinding, and the production of musical instruments. Jelly glue is valued for its strong bond, especially in woodworking where it is used to bond wooden pieces together. It’s also used in bookbinding to secure pages to book spines. One of its unique properties is its ability to be softened when heated, allowing for repairs or reassembly, and then it reverts to a solid state upon cooling.

Hot Melt Adhesive: Hot melt adhesive, often referred to as hot glue, is a type of thermoplastic adhesive that is solid at room temperature but becomes a liquid when heated. It is commonly used for bonding a wide range of materials. Hot melt adhesive is applied using a hot glue gun or similar applicator, which heats the adhesive and allows it to flow as a liquid. When it cools, it solidifies, creating a strong bond. It is known for its quick setting time, making it ideal for applications where rapid bonding is required, such as in crafts, packaging, and woodworking.

Lamination Adhesive: Lamination adhesive is designed for bonding or laminating two or more layers of material together. It is commonly used in laminating processes where layers of films, papers, textiles, or foils are bonded together to create a single composite structure. The adhesive is applied between the layers, and heat or pressure is typically used to create a strong bond. Lamination adhesive serves to protect and enhance the properties of the laminated materials, offering features like moisture resistance, increased durability, and improved appearance. It is used in applications ranging from laminated documents to packaging materials and decorative laminates.

These three types of adhesives have specific properties and applications that make them suitable for a variety of tasks, from woodworking and bookbinding to packaging and document protection. The choice of adhesive depends on the materials being bonded and the desired characteristics of the final product.
